Reality BITES!!

It’s the 12th of November 2008 and I just finished practicing yet another “MOCK” CAT paper, when suddenly two questions hit me.

1)      Why am I doing this?

2)      Is this whole setup of the admissions a fair deal to me?

Answer to question No 1 was simple, I’m just made for this, I’m not awesome at studies nor am I that great at doing 150 math and verbal problems at great speed and also and a greater accuracy, but I know it I just know it that when I am given a responsibility I will ensure everything given to me is not only done but will be done in such a way that my ways become a benchmark a higher standard of quality……

WHAM!!!!  I get up and get a shocking and painful dose of REALITY….  Dude you are just thinking way ahead you haven’t even crossed barrier No.1 and you are thinking about what you are going to say in the interview. HA you are just another one of those millions who are nothing but people who hope.

Look at the odds up against you. You belong to the general category ahhhh yes the GENERAL category, since my father is another billionaire who has been feeding me caviar on a gold spoon and never let the warm MUMBAI climate ever have any effect on my well maintained skin and never let me walk on the dust filled roads as he has another company that fills gas in his car to let me drive from my bedroom to my bathroom in my 90 hectare house which by the way has another 456 bedrooms. AHHHH yes I’m another rich UPPER class guy waiting to pounce on the opportunity of “STEALING” a seat in a reputed college because I’m richer.

When will this country of so called amazing INTELLECTS wake up? I don’t blame the colleges it’s not their fault because if they go by their own rules well then its illegal. WOW we studied 16-17 years, we enforced rational thought into our minds we have learned never to be biased, all of this just to get the raw end of a deal.

I never said that there are rich people ill-treating the poor, in fact such people deserve to be flogged I’m just saying that the days of grouping people based on their CASTE , man I just hate using this word, is over. If you want a fair deal and quotas are required why don’t you group people on the basis of their earnings? Is that not fair enough?  Does everybody not benefit?

Another thing that bothers me is that we are defined by our qualifications?  So what if I am a DOCTOR, an ENGINEER, an ARTIST? Does that mean I’ m not good enough?

I just have one thing to say to people who have such thoughts. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

General.. no no.. GENERAL category myself...
I get what you're saying. And yes, ever so often, its annoyinfg. Lekin sochle yaar... I think on some level, reservations are necessary. These are in fact ppl who need to be taught and told the need for education and all.
Of course, ppl who belong to the backward class but still have a good steady income shouldnt ideally use the option. But hota hain.. Its unavoidable. Jeelenge yaar.. Abhi to MICAn o gaye.. ab kya fikar
:P
